What We Do

The Feeder Canal Alliance is the steward of the Glens Falls Feeder Canal and 9 mile long Towpath Trail in New York’s Warren and Washington Counties. The Glens Falls Feeder is the last remaining original canal in NY still operating as originally constructed to continuously carry water to the highest point of the Champlain Canal. Walking & Biking

The Glens Falls Feeder Canal Towpath is a nine mile trail suitable for walking, running or biking from the Feeder Dam in Queensbury to Mullen Park in Fort Edward. The Adirondack/Glens Falls Transportation Council has an excellent map and the Feeder Canal Alliance has it’s own Walking Map & Trail Guide as well.

Birdwatching

Did you know you could partake in bird watching from the Feeder Canal trail? The Southern Adirondack Audubon Society would like to encourage you to get out there and start looking for and observing birds. They specifically list the Towpath Road in Kingsbury as a great site to look for birds. We highly recommend visiting their website for more information.

Paddling

The Feeder Canal is suitable for canoeing or kayaking for five miles from the beginning of the Canal at Feeder Dam in Queensbury to the takeout at Martindale Boat Basin on Martindale Avenue in Hudson Falls. The water is no more than four feet deep. A dock is available at the Moore Memorial Bridge at Feeder Dam in the Town of Queensbury. Parking for a few cars is available near the gates. Canoes and kayaks can be carried around the gate through the opening to the dock.
