The 2024 Glens Falls BrewFest to benefit the Feeder Canal Alliance

The Glens Falls Brewfest is about much more than beer. It is about making our community a better place. All proceeds benefit the Feeder Canal Alliance, a local not-for-profit that makes our region special.

Fourteen years ago three ordinary beer loving guys ― a principal (Chris Reed), an optometrist (John Cordes) and a resort manager (Bill Mason) walked into a bar…no sorry that’s a different joke. What they did was give our town one of the first area beer festivals. As dedicated community members, however, they wanted to see this Brewfest do much more than simply satisfy a desire for handcrafted brews. They wanted it to have a positive impact on the community.

Thanks to our sponsors and attendees, this one-day event has contributed over $300,000 to our community.

This year the Feeder Canal Alliance Canoe/Kayak race will be a virtual one, as there is work being done on the Canal through the summer. Our Race Roster registration page is live, so you can sign up to do a 5k or 5 mile race - to be completed between June 10 - June 17, 2023 by clicking the button below. Participation is free, but we encourage you to make a donation to help us maintain and enhance the Feeder Canal.

Arbor Day Tree Walk!

We celebrated Arbor Day on April 29, 2023 with a free guided walk along the Feeder Canal, at Overlook Park at the Feeder Dam. A small group learned how to identify local trees by their buds, branch structure and bark, and about the Emerald Ash Borer and what to do about it! The 1.5 hour guided walk was conducted by Jeff Speich, a certified ISA Arborist, and a good time was had by all attendees!

Clean Sweep on Earth Day!

Each April the NYS Canal Corporation, in partnership with Parks & Trails New York and the Environmental Facilities Corporation promotes Clean Sweep, an annual statewide effort to clean up along canals in the early spring. This year we'd also like to host a Fall Clean Up of the Feeder Canal & Towpath Trail at Murray Park in Hudson Falls - and other locations if we can get enough volunteers. Stay tuned - we will post more details in the summer about the exact Fall clean up date.
