About Us

Feeder Canal Alliance, a 501(c)3 founded in 1988, preserves, promotes and protects the historic Feeder Canal and Towpath Trail through responsible recreation, environmental education and interpreting and preserving the history of these resources.

The Feeder Canal Alliance (FCA) is a grassroots non-profit with over 36 years of enthusiastic stewardship of the historic Feeder Canal & Towpath Trail, a 9-mile linear park attracting over 100k area residents and tourists in Warren and Washington counties each year.

The FCA Board – along with wonderful community volunteers, business supporters and civic, city and village leaders – works to promote, preserve and enhance this unique 4-season recreational treasure, which meanders through Glens Falls, Hudson Falls and Fort Edward, in the Towns of Queensbury and Kingsbury.

We also care for and manage two owned properties – the Howard Raymond Field School at the Historic Coal Silos and Murray Park in Hudson Falls – and host multiple educational, music and cultural programs at the Field School, Murray Park and other area locations throughout the year.

Our 501c-3 non-profit organization was formed in 1988 by Hudson Falls resident Gaynell Moore, whose vision and ardent activism focused on fostering the preservation and restoration of the Feeder Canal and Towpath Trail, educating our visitors about the canal’s history, and the extraordinary impact it had on the economic growth of Glens Falls, the region and the environment.

Residents, visitors and tourists enjoy walking, cycling, paddling, bird-watching, meditation, photography, angling and other recreational pursuits along the nine-mile-long level trail – through scenic quiet areas, and city, village, industrial and countryside locales. We invite you to visit the historic Feeder Canal & Towpath Trail and attend one of our unique educational or cultural programs soon!
